About the Show:
Set on the day after 9/11, Recent Tragic Events follows Waverly, a young ad executive in Minneapolis, as she navigates a blind date while anxiously awaiting news about her missing twin sister in New York. As strange visitors and surreal coincidences pile up—including a sock puppet incarnation of Joyce Carol Oates—the play explores fate, uncertainty, and human connection in the shadow of tragedy.

In the first act of the show, the audience is lead to believe that certain decisions are being made that were determined by a coin toss done in the prologue. These changes were marked by a tone that was made using a coin toss sound effect and reverb.
At the very end of the show, it is implied that one of the character’s sister has passed away in the September 11th Attacks. As tension is building in the house, static rises over a clip of then-mayor Rudy Giuliani talking about the attacks and clean-up efforts, then leading another character to switch off the TV.
